When Parents Become Therapists: Their Attitudes Toward Parenting Three Years Later

Abstract

The following study reports on the long lasting changes in attitudes of mothers who were trained to act as change agents of remediation for the problem behaviours of their children which occasioned them to seek professional help. Three years after termination of treatment, attitude changes not only were maintained but continued to increase in a positive direction.

Résumé

Des mères furent formées pour devenir des agents de changement pour solutionner des problèmes de comportement de leurs enfants qui les amenaient à demander de l'aide professionnelle. Le présent article rend compte des changements d'attitudes observés à long terme chez ces méres. Trois ans après la fin du traitement, les changements dans les attitudes étaient non seulement maintenus mais continuaient à augmenter positivement.
