Violence psychologique des parents rapportée par des jeunes à un service d'aide anonyme

Résumé

Cette étude propose une analyse de contenu approfondie de 345 demandes d'aide acheminées par des jeunes de 9 à 17 ans à un service d'aide anonyme, faisant état de différentes manifestations de violence psychologique parentale. Elle dresse un portrait global de l'univers de la violence psychologique telle que rapportée par des jeunes qui en sont victimes, selon 5 grands thèmes: (a) l'expérience de victimisation, (b) le contexte familial, (c) le niveau de détresse et les réactions émotives, cognitives et comportementales des jeunes, (d) les mécanismes d'adaptation et de soutien et (e) les conséquences perçues de la violence psychologique.

Abstract

This study consists of an in-depth content analysis of 345 help requests made by 9- to 17-year-old youths to an anonymous hot line service, disclosing various manifestations of parental psychological violence. It provides an overall picture of the universe of psychological violence as reported by young victims, on the basis of the 5 following themes: (a) the victimization experience, (b) the familial context, (c) the degree of distress and youths' emotional, cognitive, and behavioural reactions, (d) coping and support mechanisms, and (e) the perceived consequences of psychological violence.
